540 HUDSON STREET

540 Hudson street is a structural renovation project of an industrial facility. The space which is about 40,000 sqft area had been abandoned for quite some time and the structure was severely damaged. HAYYAN design was commissioned to investigate the extent of damage and to design a repair scheme. The rooftop is used as a parking deck. The deterioration of the structure was mainly due to rain water penetrating the top. The top concrete layer which was mainly a wearing surface was cracked at several places. The original rubber seal layer placed between the two layers of concrete was damaged and had lost its purpose. The top concrete slab was removed and new concrete was poured at severely damaged areas. Structural steel members were strengthened and a Sika water proofing system was applied to protect the structure from future damage.
